Water Gun Fight

Today our class and our little buddy class are going to have a water gun fight outside. I brought three water guns so that if other people forgot theirs they would still get to play. I have a team with three other people, Salam, Danika,  Isaac. Our base will be in the GaGa pit. We will have the fight in the afternoon so that if we get wet it will not matter. I can not wait!

Stop Motion

In class we are doing a stop motion project. We are doing this in partners, mine is Madyson. We are using pattern blocks for our stop motion. We are making a flower and we are already done taking the pictures, we downloaded the stop motion app on my laptop and we are trying to put the pictures on Google Drive but it is not working. We have this in the afternoon and we will try again to put the pictures on Drive. We learned the three stop motion rules: 1] Take a picture 2] Make a small change 3] Add speed.  Me and Madyson finished 1] and 2] but we have not started 3] yet. I can not wait to finish and show our class.

Planting A Promise [Part 2]

Update:

I have recently checked our flower bed and the tulips have not come up yet, this does not surprise me because they should start popping up in March sometime. There was a whole bunch of worms in and around the bed so the soil should be nice and rich and soft for March. I can not wait to walk into town and give the tulips out to people. I will give another update after the winter break.

Coding

Yesterday a person from S.F.U [Simon Fraser University] came to our school and introduced us to a cool coding site. It was called makecode.microbit.org, we were coding the microbit to play rock, paper, scissors. He then let us play this with the person next to us, it was a lot of fun, after we stopped playing he brought out microbits that you could plug into your computer. They recognized it when you shook them and they showed either a rock, a piece of paper, or scissors.I thought that this was super cool and I enjoyed it.

Reading Link Challenge

A few days ago a librarian came to our school and talked about something called the reading link challenge. She said that it is a challenge where you get 6 books (1 at a time of course),and you try to read as many of them at a time. At the end of  three months you go in groups of 6 with other people in the school who signed up for the challenge. Then you compete against each other, you are asked questions about the books you have read. Then the winning groups  from each school will compete, then….

THE FINAL LEVEL.

The winning groups from ALL over the lower mainland will compete for…. A mystery prize.

Christmas gifts

Me and my brother always make our Christmas gifts together. This year I made him a neck pillow, but I was very impatient and gave it to him the day after I made it. But I think I will be able to wait until Christmas to give him another gift- as soon as I find out what that gift is going to be. I think I should make something for him, and it should be meaningful and personal. Here are some of the things I have thought of:

  • Carve something out wood-most likely a toy or a medal that says something on it
  • Make a stuffie out of material I can get from the attic
  • Make him a sleeve he can put on a cup/water bottle

Remembrance Day

Our school had a Remembrance day assembly today. In the assembly L.M.E voices [a singing club that I am in] sang ‘One Tin Soldier ‘ a sad song but also one that sends a good message I think it is also a really beautiful song too. Mostly every class did a song – the kindergarten classes and a few others + ours did not. But that’s okay, the assembly was already one hour so it did not need to be longer than that. I noticed that lots of kids had their poppies on the right side of their body – Not their left, I told most of the kids in my class so they didn’t do that but  some kids did.  Shylah and Sheldon were our wreath layers, I think they did a great job.

Our Math Choice

In class we have math choice instead of everyone doing the same sheet. This lets Mr. Lister work with a group. We just got a new sheet, nobody was happy about it though. Mr. Lister said that if he had made the sheet then he wouldn’t have done the kids like that. The sheet looked like this: There was a wheel with four or five sections, on the sections were numbers above ten. Holding the circle was either a boy or a girl, the boy was wearing a blue shirt with green shoes and the girl was wearing a pink dress, pink shoes and pigtails tied up with pink elastics. I think that this is extremely stereo typical, so does everyone else in the class. I barely ever wear pink, it is too bright for me, my favorite color isn’t pink, it is blue. I don’t even like pink, lots of other girls do like it, but not ALL of them!

Halloween

Next week it is Halloween, I am super excited but I have no idea of who or what I’m going to be. My puppy Chico is going as a bandit – he looks super cute in his costume. And I think my sister is doing a day of the dead costume {she is making her skirt}. Me and my brother have already decorated our room and the house. Halloween is my second favorite holiday{Christmas is my first} so I always go all out with decorations and everything that has to do with Halloween. Can not wait!

Planting a promise

In class we have been talking about a new project called Planting a promise. We will be doing this with another class this week! We will go into the field and plant Daffodils, they will be ready in March sometime. I am super excited about this because once they are ready we will cut them and walk into town to give them to people. Can’t wait!
